Brother Knights,

Here we are already in October! Summer activities are winding down and things are getting back to a regular schedule. We see more cars on the road for our daily commute, school buses transporting children to our many local schools and the beautiful changes fall brings. Our faith and how we represent that faith in our daily lives however should remain constant. As St. Paul said in his letter to the Ephesians “(and) be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.” Such actions, difficult though they may be at times, never should take a vacation to be ramped-up again at a time of our choosing. God’s love and compassion for us is always there, without question!

As we enter fall, our many charitable events start to ramp up and I look to all you, brother knights to support our efforts. Our monthly parish breakfasts have begun and the next is scheduled for October 21^st. Many of you are scheduled to help prepare, serve, and work these breakfast and I would like to ask for your commitment. We can’t do this successfully without each and every one of you. Also, our annual tree lot is beginning to take shape. Our tree sales are our largest fundraiser of the year! Watch for communications and lend your support in preparation and working at the tree lot.

I would once again encourage all members to attend our council meetings held on the second Thursday of the month. I would especially like to see more of our newer members who can provide a fresh set of eyes and ideas on how we do things around here. Our new officers like to question the “its how we’ve always done it” adage while maintaining the deepest respect for those who blazed the trail ahead of us and got us to where we are today. We seek to build on the strong foundation they established for us.

As with all organizations like ours, we are dependent upon finding new members to continue our good works. I would like to ask each brother knight to see if you can find a person that you believe would make a good knight. If you do not feel comfortable in making the initial contact, please get in touch with one of the officers with the pertinent information. We would be more than happy reach out to a potential member.
